Traditional Puglia pottery The underlying glaze is cream-colored, giving the piece a unique, warm hue.

It is decorated with a chicken and a star, which are symbols of warding off evil.

The pottery in our shop is handmade, so there may be differences in the way the patterns are painted and the colors. The glaze is thin, so the base may be visible. (This is common with pottery from Puglia.)

Small holes (pinholes), black spots (iron contained in the raw soil) and slight wobbling may occur during the manufacturing process. Please note that these are characteristics of the product manufacturing process and are not defects.

◇Pinholes are tiny holes on the surface of the glaze that look like they were made by a needle, allowing the base to be seen. Pinholes are common in ceramic vessels. Therefore, pinholes are not a defect, but should be enjoyed as part of the product's character.

We remove any items that are particularly badly damaged during inspection, and only ship products that we determine to be in good condition.
